Entering Ruđer Bošković Institute and parking

Access to the Ruđer Bošković Institute is not open to public. All registered Symposium participants will have to refer to 1st Dinaric Symposium and will have to present ID or passport to the security staff at the main entrance. In case of any problems please refer security staff to Martina Pavlek or Danijela Osredečki.

Parking inside the Institute is free of charge, and we suggest that you park your car inside as there are no available parking lots outside the Institute. You can park your car on any empty parking space and you can also leave your car during the night if necessary.

Conference Hall of Building 3

Conference Hall is in the ground floor of Building 3 – the first grey building on the right after entering through the main entrance.


Registration is on Friday, 23 September from 08:30 AM onward at Conference Hall of Building 3, Ruđer Bošković Institute.

Instructions for speakers and poster presenters

Oral presentations

Please respect strictly the time limit of 15 minutes per presentation. Five minutes are available for discussion after each presentation.

Standard MS PowerPoint presentations (.ppt and .pptx) on a USB memory stick (or CD, DVD) should be handed to the person in charge at the presentation computer at least 15 minutes before the start of your session. Please check that your presentation runs smoothly on the presentation computer.


Posters can be hung on Friday, 23 September at any time in the lounge in front of the Conference Hall of Building 3 where oral presentations will be held. Mounting tape and pins will be provided.

Please stand by your poster during poster session.

Please leave your posters mounted until Saturday so that they can be seen throughout the Symposium. Please take off your posters after the last session of Symposium.


Lunch on Friday, 23 September is organized in canteen „Mibra“ of Ruđer Bošković Institute on the first floor and is free of charge for registered participants.

On Friday, 23 September social event with local delicacies will be organized in the National and University Library in Zagreb after the opening ceremony of the exhibition and movie premiere.

During coffee breaks, non – alcoholic beverages and refreshments will be served.

Lunch on Saturday, 24 September will be organized as lunch boxes for the Symposium excursion.

National and University Library in Zagreb

After the last session on Friday, the Symposium program will continue, but it will take place at the National and University Library. The schedule is tight and the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Cave fauna of the Krka National Park” starts at 7 PM. Participants are encouraged to leave the Institute soon after the last session. Estimated time to reach the Library is up to 30 min by car due to possible traffic jam. Transport to the Library will be by participants own private cars. Parking fee in the parking lots of the Library is 1,5 kn / h from 7 AM to 8 PM. From 8 PM until 7 AM the parking is free. Those without cars or those that would like to leave cars in the parking lot of the Institute during night are encouraged to take Taxi or Uber. Price for one way from Institute to Library would be around 40 kn (5 EUR). If you need to order taxi or help with the transportation please contact registration desk.

Icebreaker meeting on Thursday 22 September

Icebreaker meeting will be held in premises of the Croatian Biospeleological Society, Lomnička 3. The premises are on the ground floor facing south in the 8 store building on the address Lomnička 3. The premises are little difficult to find, but just make circle by foot around building and you will find it. Parking fee in the parking lots of premises is 1,5 kn / h from 7 AM to 8 PM From 8 PM until 7 AM the parking is free for unlimited time. Social event on Friday 23 September

After event in the National and University Library we will move in just nearby bar called “Route 66“ or “Spunk“. Both are just nearby the Library and we will decide on site, depending on the weather conditions.

Symposium excursion

Saturday, 24 September

Please confirm your participation in the excursion at the registration desk.

Excursion fee is 100 kn (15 EUR) and should be paid at the registration desk in cash. Fee covers dinner, drinks and overnight in the apartment Bjelolasica. No insurance is covered by excursion fee and registered participants agree that they will attend the Symposium excursion on their own responsibility.

Private cars of participants will be used for the transportation during the excursion.

Cars will depart from the parking lot in front of the Building 3 exactly at 1:30 PM. This tight schedule after the last presentation of the Symposium is important to manage all the schedule of excursion. Participants are encouraged to check out from their accommodation in the morning before the Symposium program starts, and to be ready to leave for excursion after the last session of the Symposium. Saturday lunch will be organized as lunch boxes and available on the parking lot before departure.

Hiking boots or rubber boots, headlamp / caving helmet with light are required. Be prepared for rainy and chilly weather.

Apartments Bjelolasica, Jasenak, Vrelo

After the excursion, dinner will be organized in Apartments Bjelolasica around 9 PM. We will reach the apartments in car convoy. This rural household has 5 apartments that can accommodate 20 – 30 people. Depending on the overall number of participants that will join the excursion, this should be just enough. However camping in your own tents is available on this household, so those participants that are interested in camping are encouraged to bring their camping gear (temperature during night is 10 °C). The Symposium program ends on Sunday morning, so participants are free to organize their time on Sunday and their trip home. Simple free self-service breakfast and coffee and tea will be available for purchase on Sunday morning.
